Stomping Grounds

Yesterday, NebulaMods went through what should have been a routine server change. Unfortunately, due to complications at the webhost, the site (including all networked sites) has lost over a month's content. It is times like these running a network of sites, for lack of better phrasing, sucks.

While a month's content lost is not exactly devastating, it pokes obvious holes in the very essence of the site. Problems like these can and should be avoided at all costs, but to state the obvious, they were not. This is a rather disappointing and frustrating situation for everyone involved with NM whether it be through the wiki, forums, file sections, or websites hosted under us.

To anyone that lost content of any sorts (whether it be a post, file, wiki edit, etc) due to this event, we're sorry.

We have been working to restore any content possible to our networked sites. What's to come of these efforts is a bit up in the air, since, we're not able to pinpoint exactly what has been lost, or if we potentially have a backup. If you've lost data of any kind (wiki edit, file, post, etc) be patient at least, and at most forgiving. Most likely, we won't be able to recover very much, but there is still selective hope in some of the existing backups.

The upside to this is that it's an opportunity for improvement, just as is any loss. This event is forcing us to rapidly improve the workings of the site and network so that future complications of this kind can be minimized, if not eradicated entirely. The NebulaMods domain has existed for quite some time and each large reworking of it has been for the better. With any luck what's to come should follow that trend precisely.

The precise future of NebulaMods itself at this point is uncertain. What we can promise with certainty is that:

* None of the networked sites will be affected greatly by the reworking.

* The auto-downloader component of PF will remain functional.

* The Red Faction Wiki will remain online. Click to visit:

* We aren't evil gremlins and this news post isn't overly dramatic.

All-in-all, there are going to be changes made here at NM, and most likely some pretty major ones that will make things better in all aspects. We're excited about what's to come, and just how much better the NM network will be.
